busy boys

We have been so busy! Please excuse the lack of bloggage as of late. I'm not sure where to start with the recap, so we'll just see where it goes! First, I will say that there have been some good developments in Lewis' world. He has been playing a lot outside since Justin built the shed a couple weeks ago. He will sit out there with his sidewalk chalk and trucks and play. He'll even play in the sand and get covered in dirt which is awesome! The best part is that I can see him from the kitchen, and he has been great about staying put so that we don't have to be out there with him every second. It is a nice development!!

Also, his pretend play continues to improve. On Sunday night, Owen screamed all through the church service (off and on) and so finally I went to check on him toward the end and was delighted to find Lewis giving 'medicine' (actually a little baby bottle) to three baby dolls! The girls said that he'd been playing with them for a long time and he was so excited about it. It cracked me up. He gets an antihistamine every night now, and fish oil, so we have a whole medicine routine that he is passing on to random babies. It's sweet!

The other fun thing is to hear him make pretend phone calls. He's been doing this a lot on his toy cell phone. They always start with "Hello!" followed by "ga ga ga" and end with "Okay, bye!" Every once in a while there is some additional funny language in there, and he even tries to take his calls outside on occassion, just like his daddy.

Owen is still moving toward walking and talking. He cruises well, but prefers crawling and does not like push toys at all. It may be a little while longer before he takes the plunge to really walk, but he is super mobile at home. It's everywhere that is trouble for him!! We can't have him crawling all over Bowling Green, so he gets pretty mad at us sometimes.

He is loving the TV lately, and loves to stand right in front of it, so we have actually started trapping him in a booster seat for our sanity's sake......but we took a video of him (before the trapping) where he's dancing during the boys' current favorite tune.

He's trying to say "spoon" and "blue" and when we ask him what a cat says he makes a nice high-pitch squeal. Here's some babbling outside in the swing.
